My Dream House

When Lance and I started talking about making a move our original plan was to move and fix up an old farm house that his family owns.  I was so excited to start making plans and seeing my dream of living in the country get with in finger tips. The Hillsboro job opened up and it's like it was fate that something close to McPherson was now available. Now all we needed to do was get someone to look at the house to see if it was even worth fixing in the first place. We basically wanted to gut the entire thing and start over, but keep all the old bones of the home. Then Pinterest came into my life and I spent hours searching photos of exactly how I wanted things to be remodeled. Once again things kept happening all at the right time!! So we had a guy come look at the house and gave him our wanted plans.   Lance then excepted the job in Hillsboro. We had planned to rent if we were going to fix up the house and then move once done, but we figured we better look at houses in Hillsboro just in case. Then our estimate came back, and everything changed. In the back of my mind I knew it was going to cost more then expected, but I had high hopes. Well lets just say it was WAY out of our reach, and it was so disappointing. I had made so many plans and could picture our little family moving in on the finishing day. Now on to plan B. We had found a house we liked in Hillsboro and decided we better make an offer before this plan fell through as well.

I just thought I would share a few photos and plans we had made for the farm house. I find myself looking at the pictures and plans sometimes wishing we were putting this into action.

Some might say, WOW, but not in a good way. All I saw was great potential and the perfect house. This is the side of the house.

We probably would of torn this little shed down, but I was thinking what a great little gardening house!!

The barn was one of Lance's favorite parts. His dream was to put a basketball court in the top part of the barn.

Here is the front.

Here was my plan for what I wanted it to look like!!

Perfect right? If only it was free!!

The laundry room

 What it could of been!

The kitchen.
We wanted to add an addition to the back of the house to add some space in the kitchen and add a master bedroom upstairs. This is where it got pricey.

This was my inspiration for the add on part of the kitchen

Inspiration for the kitchen!!

The add on would of gave us space for a dining room off the kitchen, a pantry, and stairs to the added basement, and an added screen-in-porch off the dinning room. Once again a big part of the price.

All my inspiration for the dining, pantry and porch.

The main floor had 2 bedrooms already. We would of knocked down a wall to make one bedroom and added a small bath for guests(mostly my parents) That way there was a bedroom on the main floor so everyone didn't have to travel upstairs when they came to stay!

Upstairs already had 3 bedrooms and full bath. The nice thing about upstairs was we just needed to upgrade everything for the most part, we already liked the layout!

This was one of my favorite rooms minus all the stuff!! It was a small room off all the bedrooms which I would of turned into a small office/craft room!!

Ta-Da!!

There was also a full attic, which I would of turned into a huge play room/storage!

The last thing is the house had no basement. We really wanted to add one mostly because we do live where there are tornadoes. We would of had to pour the basement and then pick up the house and move over the basement(YIKES). We would of finished a part of it for a family room, but left most of it unfinished for storage.

This would of been a massive house and yes probably a bit much, but it would of been perfect and our home forever!!

Now if we could just win the lottery!!

On the plus side.....

I do love our house and the changes we have made and couldn't be happier with our decision. A huge bonus is Lance can now walk to work, come home for lunch and gets home a lot faster in the evenings.     There are many day's I wish we were working on this house, but I guess we are where we are for a reason. There is always some day!!
